Born in Appalachia, Ash Devine now lives in Asheville, NC. Ash creates an all original jazz-blues-folk-Appalachian style, with powerful sultry vocals. Her songs tell stories of Appalachian life, nature, human struggle and environmental awareness. Some of Ash's musical influences range from folk artists such as Joni Mitchell, Ani Difranco, and Bob Dylan, to local musicians whom have surrounded her lifetime. Ash Devine, the multi-instrumental-multi-media artist is also a student at UNCA where she studies community transformations and collaboration. With over 150 songs, and more coming, Ash sings about social justice and poetic webs of society, nature and relationships between it all. Ash has recently begun working as a humanitarian clown, combining theater, music and dance to find ways to be with people, and work on community projects through the simple concept of love. With the strong that belief music is a tool for education, healing and community transformation, Ash is always searching for ways to immerse her art into humanitarian and social change efforts. She is always looking for people to network with, and communities to share music with. Ash can be found on city streets of Asheville, in local music venues and most recently traveling with Patch Adams and the Geshundheit institute working on various grassroots community projects around the world.
