Having come from separate bands with varying styles, the three members sought to start a project with a capability of encompassing the dynamics of multiple genres, from the vast, droning beauty of post rock to the technical, frenetic frenzy of math rock and experimental metal. The trio quickly gained listener attention in its southwest town of Santa Fe, New Mexico, as a unique, universally appealing blend of danceable indie rock and sheer intensity. After countless shows, ranging in size from over-crowded living room sweat fests, to opening a sold out show for the Smashing Pumpkins, the trio realized their need and desire to expand their creative barriers in the summer of 2011 by incorporating a second guitar player, Eliza Lutz. Prior to joining As In we, Eliza was a well established solo, acoustic folk performer, who had gained much attention with her capability of combining heart wrenching vocals with unique, technical guitar-tapping melodies.
