about

AS ELEPHANTS ARE were formed in High Wycombe in 2011 after Ben (vocals/guitar) and Harry (bass) had to collaborate on the writing and recording of music for their college music course. Realising that there was no one else like-minded on the course they recruited an old school friend each in Joe (guitar) and Rob (drums) to complete the recording line up. Collectively inspired by the success of bands like Bombay Bicycle Club and The Maccabees, all four had been music obsessives from a young age but this was the first time they had ever played music with other people who felt the same way. Released on August 26th, 2012, their first single ‘War Cry’ sparked off exhilarated reactions from bloggers and new music fans across England, America and mainland Europe. "Oceanic" and "epic", "atmospheric" and "explosive" yet "soothing"... are just some of the words that have been used to describe a sound that can more than anything be described as ‘unique’. The band is currently finishing off their anticipated new single, to be released early in 2013.
