Artist
Art Guy was born in St. Louis Missouri. He grew up in Southern California. His cousin Richard was one of the top recording engineers in L.A., later to produce acts such as Three Dog Night, Steppenwolf and others. This recording was engineered by Bruce Morgan, considered one of the best recording engineers in L.A. during the 1960's. Art was primarily a drummer, however, he was signed by Hite and Dorinda Morgan (original producers of the Beach Boys), as a vocalist. Art penned this tune, played drums on the recording and utilized some of L.A.'s top studio musicians on the recording which was taped at Stereo Masters in Hollywood in approx. 1964. Danny Belsky, drummer for the band Eastside Kids, played the flute part. Although the song never achieved top 10 status, in recent years it has been covered by numerous U.S. and European bands. Hits on the Internet for this recording has reached enormous numbers with very kind and positive feedback. Following his stint as a solo artist, Art first joined, performed, recorded and toured with the Minutemen band and subsequently became a member of the infamous Smokestack Lightnin' band.
