Army of Sun. Sounds serious, but also fun. It’s a good name for a band of young, energetic, hardworking guys who know how to show their fans a good time. They’re all still in high school, except the lead singer, Shea, who just graduated. The other four, Tyler (guitar), Marc (guitar), Ryan (bass), and Drew (drums), have been playing together since middle school, although it wasn’t until they met Shea (already performing acoustic shows on his own) that the band became whole. “Shea completes us,” the other band members agree. What began as a band formed to play at their high school talent show quickly took off, and they found themselves playing at the House of Blues, Anaheim just six months later. In the year and a half since their creation, they've written and recorded eight original songs, three of them currently in rotation on the Saddleback College radio station (ocrockradio.com). They’ve played over 35 shows in the Orange County area, including dozens of charity events, school fundraisers and music festivals, as well as venues like The Industry and the Irvine Spectrum. Their hometown of Irvine says they're "bringing a fun, young, energetic perspective to rock/alternative rock, with a surprisingly mature sound." They were the top Orange County high school band chosen to perform at a RADD (Rockers Against Drunk Driving) event, based on judging by a DJ from KISS FM and the former manager of Ray Charles.
