Artist
The name Arjen Anthony Lucassen is a benchmark in the progressive music scene. Some of the most fascinating stories in the form of concept albums have come from his mind, albums whose complexity and quality have captivated both critics and fans around the world. It could be said that two of the hallmarks that define the music of this Dutch multi-instrumentalist in his multiple projects (notably Ayreon and Star One) are his ability to create compelling narratives and a conviction to invite a large number of artists to be part of his works, indiscriminate of their fame or popularity and instead focusing on their raw talent. Supersonic Revolution is a project that shows another side of Lucassen, a relaxed and fun one with one simple mission: to rock, loud and hard. It arose from a request by German magazine Eclipsed for a cover song of ZZ Top, which would be included on a cover CD. Lucassen assembled a full band of his favorite musicians around The Netherlands within half an hour. After recording the song, they felt the unique vibe that would culminate in The Golden Age Of Music, an album that should be understood as a celebration of 70s music and an exaltation of everything that made that era memorable. "The guys are all younger than me - around 30 - so they weren't even alive yet in the 70s. So, it was a great way for me to make 70s music with lots of Hammond and blistering guitars, but to update it to this time." Debut album Golden Age Of Music released on the 19th of May,
# Arjen Lucassen's Supersonic Revolution This album exemplifies why Lucassen remains essential to progressive music: it combines intricate instrumental architecture with a narrative scope that rewards patient listening. What distinguishes it is the seamless integration of diverse vocal and instrumental contributors into a cohesive artistic vision—a hallmark of Lucassen's collaborative philosophy. Rather than serving as mere guest appearances, each artist deepens the conceptual layers, suggesting that the album explores something genuinely ambitious beneath its surface. For listeners curious about how progressive rock can balance technical sophistication with storytelling depth, or how a composer might orchestrate dozens of talents into unified artistic purpose, this work offers genuine substance. It's a reminder that
