Apsis Lappet is the solo project of Nate Kitchens, after the break up of his previous two bands, Instant Wonton in 2008 and Koi Pond in Hell in August 2009. Growing up in Texas, and starting to produce music in high school for a local recording studio, Nate started experimenting with distorting recorded tracks, and started compiling tracks. Nate's first band was the short lived Babies on Fire with a friend from college, and quickly formed Koi Pond in Hell as a side project when Babies on Fire couldn't continue anymore than it could as a concept band. During Koi Pond in Hell, he met fellow producers Craig Dekkard and David Gorran, who joined Koi Pond in Hell, along with his childhood friend, Thorn Katz. The group started working on songs, and Nate formed another short-lived band with friend Corey Johnson from the College of Santa Fe named Instant Wonton. Instant Wonton completed enough content for two albums, but nothing was released, and after a disagreement about songs and content, Nate left and continued work on Koi Pond in Hell over the summer of 2009 ,which included the release of his first fully-produced album "The Bright Side of Pessimism". Sadly, because of the College of Santa Fe closing and opening back up, Nate was headed away from Craig, David and Thorn, so the four split ways and decided to each do their own projects for a while.
