Apna was formed in Finland early 2003 by Jani Hirvonen a.k.a. Uton and his two young cousins Anniina and Jesse from North Karelia. First recordings were made with kitchen percussions and voices (Jani & Anniina duo), and at next summer 2003 they all met again, and they recorded their first album. It happened in a caravan area of summer vacation place, south of Finland, place called Suvikunta. Other half of recordings happened in the washing-machine room in Monninkylä. Record was released by Jani's own label Haamumaa, on CDR and edition of 70 copies. One or two years after they met again. It was christmas, and Jesse and Anniina were visiting in Monninkylä. They recorded more music together, and this result "Apna & Ipna" was released later on CDR, in edition of 75 copies by Foxglove label (part of Digitalis Industries). Two years after Anniina and Jesse were visiting in Monninkylä again, but at this time Jesse was not anymore playing in this group (he became a teenager already). Third album was recorded by Jani, Anniina and one anonymous visitor. This album stayed few years without any happenings, until late 2010 Jani's Om Ha Sva Ha Ksha Ma La Va Ra Yam released it digitally (with fantastic and huge help of afrosushi / We Have No Zen), together with two earlier albums.
