Juan Antonio Ripa Blanque (Tarazona, baptized December 27, 1721 - Seville, November 3, 1795) was an Aragonese composer, priest and chapel master. He studied in the chapel of Tarazona, in whose choir he was a child. In 1746 he was appointed master of the chapel of the Cathedral of Tarazona. In 1753 he obtained the same appointment in the Cathedral of Cuenca. In 1758 he was appointed master of the chapel of the Monastery of Descalzas Reales (Madrid), on this date he signed the censorship of the work of Father Soler Clave of modulation. In 1768 he was appointed master of chapel in the Cathedral of Seville, a position he held until his retirement. On June 13, 1789, the Cabildo granted him retirement "with all his salaries and pensions," being succeeded by Domingo Arquimbau who took office in 1790. He composed a large amount of religious music, of which much is preserved in the cathedral of Seville, consisting of masses, vespers, complete, motets, a trade of the deceased and Christmas carols. Miguel Hilarión Eslava, in the first volume of the second series of the Sacro-Hispanic Lira, published a mass with 8 voices, 2 choirs and a Stabat Mater, also with 4 voices in 2 choirs.
