Antonio hails from one of the greatest gipsy singing dinasty: Los Agujeta. His father is the great cantaor Manuel de los Santos Pastor El Agujeta. One of the greatest keepers of the old tradition style, passed onto him by his father Agujetas el viejo. Antonio follows on his father's footsteps in keeping with the old style of flamenco, far removed from any sort of the modern fusion thats ever present in most new flamenco. Antonio spent twelve years in prison finally managing to get out thanks to a flamenco contest he won with another inmate. The result was the recording of the outstanding Two cries of freedom. Antonio is one of the best new cantaors who still sticks to the old style, and so is his sister Dolores Agujeta. Siguiriyas, Soleá, Martinetes...those are the "palos" where Antonio feels at ease.
