Ante Cryst was a black metal band originally formed in the north of England in 1997 by Wyrm and Hygegeomor. Under this lineup, they recorded a rehearsal demo tape titled 'The Gaunt Hill' (1998). In 2005 Unknown Ikon (Emit, Hammemit) joined on guitar. After writing new material, a second rehearsal demo tape was released in the same year called 'Malicious'. Due to personal differences between band members, it seems that Wrym (bass) decided to part ways with the rest of the band while Hygegeomor (now credited as Bruder Unknown H, drums) and Unknown Ikon (vocals, guitar) recorded a final demo consisting of 9 tracks titled '1682 Rehearsal' (2012). This has been released on both cassette and CD. After the dissolution of Ante Cryst in early 2012, Unknown Ikon decided to release material (some of which was recorded in 2006 in Sweden) under the name of AnXpm. This project—consisting of Frater Abdabor, or Emil Lundin, of Reverorum ib Malacht on drums, and UI—continued for less than a year before it too was brought to an end.
