Artist
Antanas Gustaitis (born Martynas Kunigelis) comes from a then-underground early nineties punk/indie/party scene of Kaunas city. Instantly seduced by the hissy sound of a Def Leppard tape in his brother's JVC boombox nearly twenty years ago, he's been chasing contemporary melodies, beats and what-not ever since. The AG alias came to be around 2001, as a pseudonym for publishing Roskilde festival and other event reviews in the modern culture portal Ore.lt. Name of a famous Lithuanian aviator, brutally executed by the Soviet regime, was chosen not only out of respect and admiration for the man's vision and work, but also for the intangible associations induced by the name of the first Lithuanian military aircraft he designed β ANBO, short for Antanas Nori Buti Ore (Antanas Wants To Be Airborne, or Antanas Wants To Be In Ore; one can't help but applaud the man for his postmodern tongue-in-cheekness, coming from a high ranking Lithuanian Air Force officer of the nineteen twenties!). See the connection? Ore.lt, Antanas, Ore? Right! Thought you would :-) After years of getting wasted in a zillion local raves and parties, watching friends become skilled vinyl spinners, and witnessing inceptions, births and collapses of DJ teams and party labels, AG finally got bored of being on the wrong side of the decks. He recorded a couple of bedroom mixes for his friends at the dawn of 2004, and shortly thereafter joined a Kaunas-brewn gang of debauchers-turned-DJs aptly named Grupe Prostitute
