Anorak Girl were a late-90s indie band best known for two singles on Damaged Goods Records, 'Plastic Supermodel' and 'Cybersex'. 'Plastic Supermodel' particularly was regularly featured on John Peel and Steve Lamacq's radio shows. Another song, 'She Says', featured on a Damaged Goods compilation, while 'Teenage Dream' appeared on a Bluefire compilation. The band members were credited on the 'Plastic Supermodel' sleeve as “Sue, Geni and Bob”, and the band were described by their label as being from the Isle of Wight. According to MusicBrainz, however, Anorak Girl were a spoof band of sorts created as a side-project by the Reading band Cuckooland to "out-twee" Helen Love. In 2007 Anorak Girl uploaded a new song, 'Peter and Katy', to the MySpace www.myspace.com/anorakgirl. There were no further new recordings. The download album 'Plastic Fantastic', released in 2008 by Damaged Goods, compiles all seven Anorak Girl songs. The Spotify credits confirm Anorak Girl’s songs were written by (and presumably performed by) Cuckooland members Coral Bliss, Greg Sharpe and Neil Dunnett.
