Artist
Tenor, Webster Booth (1902-1984) was born in Birmingham. Soprano, Anne Ziegler (1910-2003) was born in Liverpool. They met at the end of 1934 when they were filming "The Faust Fantasy". Webster Booth was married to his second wife, Paddy Prior. After his divorce in 1938, Anne and Webster married on 5 November 1938 and, shortly afterwards, began singing duets together. They made their first recording with HMV the following year. In 1940 they were invited to sing on the British variety circuit and became very popular with the British public. They appeared on stage, radio, film and concert hall and made many recordings together until 1951 when their contract with HMV was cancelled. In 1948 they did a successful concert tour of New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. They immigrated to South Africa in 1956 and remained in the country until 1978 when they returned to the UK.
