Anna Barnett (born in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States) is an indie singer-songwriter. When she was seventeen she wrote her first song, at eighteen she played her originals at her first open mic, and since then she has been using her passion for storytelling through music. She first learned to play guitar from her father who educated her in sixties and seventies blues and folk rock. After being accepted to Appalachian State University to study English, she moved to Boone and developed a deep appreciation for the bluegrass and folk tradition of the mountains. The influences of both classic rock and haunting folk can be found in her music, as well as her background in literature- a background that helped create the attention to form and the incorporation of poetic structure she uses in her songwriting. In August, 2013, Anna began work on her first fully produced music project, an EP put together with the help of studio engineer and producer, Everett Hardin of the bluegrass/folk band, The New River Boys. After raising the funds for the album with a successful Kickstarter campaign, her EP was mixed and mastered in Charlotte, NC and released online in February, 2014.
