Colombian death/metal band Angel Negro was formed in 1991 by singer/guitarist Mauricio Belalcazar, who was joined by drummer Alberto Escobar and bassist William Monroy. A year later, Silvio Herrera became the group's leading singer. In 1994, Angel Negro recorded its debut album, called Sala 8, released by Antiphonas Records, followed by self-produced Guillain Barre, issued in June of 1996. Around that time, William Monroy and Alberto Escobar were replaced by Andrés Mora on bass and Fabián Aguirre on drums.
