Rama 1 is the heavy progressive project put together by bassist Andy West, and features Toshi Iseda on 7-string guitar, along with drummers: Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater/Liquid Tension Experiment), Rod Morgenstein (The Dixie Dregs/Winger) and Jonathan Mover (ex-Joe Satriani). keyboardists: Jens Johanssen (Stratovarious/ex-Yngwie Malmsteen), T.Lavitz (The Dixie Dregs/Jazz Is Dead) and Mike Keneally (Steve Vai/ex-Frank Zappa). Keneally also produces and plays guitar, and even contributes vocals to "Old Meat Frame". West wrote the framework for all songs, and says, "I intentionally left all the songs on this album open to collaboration because I wanted to see what would happen." The album sounds great, and will appeal to fans of the Dregs, and bands such as Liquid Tension Experiment and Bozzio/Levin/Stevens.
