Artist
André Alabaster is a german singer/songwriter artist. He was born in Dresden 1977. He found the Band Expretus in 1999. The band released four studio-albums yet. Furthermore he is an associate of the open tribal noise project Scatology. In 2007 he joined the Dresden based artist group Egobar, which consists of people with various artistic approaches. Apart from being a singer and songwriter he travel around to do musical reading sessions, e.g. on Franz Kafka. The Album "Motel Light" is a dark poetic travel report through space and time. The tracks on this album were co-written by his long time collaborator André Kopitsch. It contains music you would probably like to hear by the pale light of an old floor lamp, in a remote motel or during the ferry passage to an island with no traffic – while watching the sea. Thereby you can recall past relationships, missed opportunities and disappeared companions without bitterness. "Motel Light" tells us about deep love, painful goodbyes, easy girls in run down pubs at the hardscrabble milieu of harbours, restless roamers, rootless drifters, rum gangsters and down-on-their-luck maids on wrong ways. You can feel the dangers of love in these melodic songs that require a certain amount of time to capture their atmosphere. The album keeps the focus on the voice, elegantly framed by atmospheric guitars, piano, bass and drums. On "Motel Light" you will find songs made of minimalism to richly textured soundscapes.
