Artist
Formed somewhere in the Netherlands, Analogue Postcard & The 24 Hours was heavily influenced by The Fall, The Velvet Underground and The Birthday Party. During this period, never recorded songs like "Walvissen" and "Schaar + Raam", organ-driven and heavily percussive punksongs with spoken word vocals a la The Fall's Mark E. Smith, by Maarten. Then the band got influenced by avant-gardists as Einstürzende Neubauten, This Heat and Faust. The monotone Fallish punksound stayed, but was made by looping Niels' key parts, Bram hitting skippy balls and metal chairs and turning Maartens untuned guitar to an untuned prepared guitar. The sound became more aggresive and a bit no wave, with noisy edges and freaky guitars. Except for the already noticed artists, they've also cited the following artists as influence: Joy Division, Sonic Youth, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Syd Barret (and the early Pink Floyd), Gang of Four, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and surprisingly, Tom Waits.
