Amy's career was kick started when she was sought out and asked to add her exceptional vocal talent to a local bands recording and subsequent live performances. It was during this time that she started writing her own material with a view to performing under her own name. From 2000 onwards Amy Sawers has honed and defined her sound through extensive gigging and a melding of her broad influences into a satisfyingly unique sound of melody driven contemporary Alt Country rock n roll. Although Amy has, from time to time, performed solo she is unequivocally 'not' a twee acoustic artist, as some tender audience members, having seen a name on a poster, could testify to. Amy has her moments of sweet melancholy but one should never sit back and expect 30 minutes of such. Amy likes little more than the comfort of slinging on her telecaster stamping a four on the floor intro and ploughing through a set of songs that can both melt and invigorate and audience in equal measures. She is ably assisted in her creative pursuit by Hendy on drums and Stuart Hossack on bass and additional vocals. Hendy's drums provide a machine like backbone around which Amy carves out her hooks and melodies whilst Stuart's Bass twists and turns about the guitar in a complimentary melodic manner, with his backing vocals skilfully complementing Amy's beautiful voice, a voice that can move effortlessly from breathy whisper to a soulful soar barely in need of a microphone.
