Always the Runner was a primarily instrumental band from Louisiana. Comprised of musicians from New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette, the original lineup consisted of guitarist Eric Dills, drummer/vocalist Chad Favre, guitarist/keyboardist Garrett Morley, and bassist/keyboardist Ian Stanford, with Chad Viator later replacing Morley on guitar. Shortly after forming in 2003, the band released the two-song EP I Thought I'd Find You Here. Their self-titled full-length album followed in March 2004, recorded by Fred Weaver at Apocalypse the Apocalypse Studios in Baton Rouge. The band toured in support of the album and soon began writing for a new record. In June 2005, and with the help of producer Andy Baker (known for his work with Maserati, The Mercury Program, and Japancakes), the four finished their follow-up record An August Golf. Always the Runner parted ways in 2007 after drummer Favre left Louisiana to complete a master's degree. Members are now involved in parallelllines and Arbor Vitae.
