Altın Gün is a Dutch-Turkish psych folk band based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. They revive Turkish folk, psychedelia, funk and rock repertoire of the 1970s, but also write originals in a similar vein. After performing in Istanbul with Jacco Gardner, bassist Jasper Verhulst became fascinated by the Turkish sound of the 1970s, when artists like Selda, Barış Manço and Erkin Koray combined traditional music with western rock influences. This way different worlds meet and form a refreshing danceable sound. Massively popular in Turkey, the band released five albums as of December 2025: On (2018), Gece (2019), Yol (2021), Âlem (2021, their 'hidden' album, not available for streaming) and Aşk (2023). Vocalist Merve Daşdemir left the group amicably in early 2024, with Erdinç Eçevit taking over vocal duties, so that - from 2024 onwards - Altın Gün became a band with male rather than female vocals. Garip (February 2026) is set to be the first album of the altered line-up: Jasper Ve
