about

Iman Crosson is an American actor and impressionist, and host of a popular YouTube channel under the pseudonym Alphacat. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Iman now resides in California. Although a registered YouTube producer since December 2005, he has been gaining increased popularity in recent months on the strength of several self-produced short films in which he parodies President Barack Obama. Iman’s viewership has also increased considerably after being featured in YouTube video collaborations on the popular YouTube channel of LisaNova, web alias of noted actress Lisa Donovan. Since January 2009, he has been portraying Obama in The District, an online satirical video series presented by Newsweek. In his blog The Daily Dish, Andrew Sullivan of The Atlantic judged Iman's impression of Obama as "better than Fred Armisen" of Saturday Night Live fame. Actor Fred Armisen has received a lot of attention for his Barack Obama impersonation, although in the view of some critics, it is not considered sufficiently accurate or funny. President Obama himself facetiously took exception to it in an interview, saying "compared to Tina Fey and what she's doing with Governor [Sarah] Palin, my imitator [Armisen] isn't doing as great of a job." On the other hand, it has been said of Iman that he mimics Obama's pitch, intonation and cadence perfectly.
