Aliocha Solovera Roje (1963, Santiago de Chile) completed his composition studies at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, Slovenia (in the class of Professor Alojz Srebotnjak). He continued his studies of composition at the University of Music an Dramatic Arts in Vienna (in the class of Professor Heinrich Gatermeyer), with a scholarship from the Alban Berg Foundation and the Austrian Ministry for Science and Research. His compositions have been well-received throughout Europe and America, and earned him numerous awards, including Second Prize in the Slovene Republic’s First Musical Composition Contest (1993), Sao Paolo’s Lapandia Foundation Prize (2000), Chile’s Altazor Award (2003), the commission of the Charles Ives musical composition (2003). Solovera maintains a busy academic career as Professor of Composition at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, he is also the founder and conductor of the Contemporary Ensamble of the same University.
