Ambient artists ALIO DIE and JAMES JOHNSON’s 2007 collaboration 'Cube 7 - Sospensione d'Estate' (Summer Suspension) is a single long meditative track of multi-layered textures. With the sounds of zither, flutes, and rattles played in the wilderness, electronic drones and loops merge with field recordings taken in Liguria, Italy. Released in June, 2007 on Alio Die’s Hic Sunt Leones label, the CD continues James Johnson’s Environmental series at Atmoworks.com. CD credits: James Johnson- Electronics, Programming. Alio Die- Zither, Flutes, Rattles, Small Instruments Set, Drones and Loops, Tubes, Field Recordings. Special Thanks to Saffron Wood for Acoustic Recordings. “CUBE music is designed to blur the architectural spaces that we occupy during our waking hours of the day. Whether it’s an office cubical, a personal listening space or subtly defined spaces within an architectural environment, CUBE music is music at the edge of perception, music meant to expand interior space. “Listen at a volume slightly above the natural sound in the space that this work is being played.” User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
