Ali G (Alistair Leslie Ibrahim Graham) is a satirical comic character invented and played by English comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. Originally appearing on Channel 4's Eleven O'Clock show, Ali G is the title character of Channel 4's Da Ali G Show, which now appears on HBO, and was the title character of the film Ali G Indahouse. Ali G first appeared on Channel 4's The Eleven O'Clock Show as the "voice of da yoof" in 1998. He interviewed various public figures in the United Kingdom. The humourous feature of these interviews, and indeed, the entire character, was that Ali G behaves as a boorish, uneducated, streetwise youth with a deeply stereotypical view of the world, and either embarrasses his interviewee by displaying a mixture of uninformed political incorrectness, or gets the 'victim' to agree to some breathtaking inaccuracy or insult. The interviewees are usually chosen to be initially sympathetic to this street-educated youth with little opportunity, and their struggles to avoid being offended as wave upon wave of crudity is heaped on them usually provides a hilarious ten minutes. An early interview occurred with fashion designer Tomasz Starzewski. Ali G suggested that the Wonderbra should be banned, as it misleads men into thinking that a girl's breasts are larger than they are.
