Alfonso Luis Fuentes Colón is a Puerto Rican composer, pianist, poet and educator. He writes music for solo, chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras. His recitals as pianist of improvisation expose a variety of 'classical' music styles; third stream, where he incorporates classical, jazz and tropical music; and folklore mainly from Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. He serves as an Associated professor of Orchestration and Composition in the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music. As a commercial musician Fuentes has performed over 300 international tours. As a composer, artist and educator he has participated in several congresses, festivals and residencies in Asia and America. He has been an activist in behalf of the development of musical creation and musical employment in his country.
