Alexis Grace (born June 9, 1987 in Memphis, Tennessee, US) is an American singer and a top 13 finalist for the 8th season of American Idol 2009. She auditioned in Kansas City, Missouri with Aretha Franklin's Dr Feelgood. Grace gave birth to her daughter when she was nineteen. Grace began singing at an early age. She performed Aretha Franklin's "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man" and Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" in the Hollywood rounds. After her sultry performance of "I Never Loved A Man", Simon Cowell called her a 'dark horse' and compared her to first American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, considering her as a front-runner. In Michael Jackson week, she performed "Dirty Diana", gaining huge praises from the judges. But on the Grand Ole Opry week, she was shockingly eliminated after her above average performance of Dolly Parton's classic, "Jolene", thus, not making it to the idol tour.
