Artist
Alexis Alrich was born in Los Angeles in 1955. Her first composition and piano studies were with Mary Martindale Robin. Later teachers included Malcolm Peyton at the New England Conservatory of Music, Mel Powell at California Institute of the Arts, and Lou Harrison at Mills College. Her music, sometimes called "California Impressionism," is influenced by Ravel and Debussy, Minimalist composers Steve Reich, John Adams and Terry Riley, and Asian music.
