At 21 Alexandra Alexis can look back on a measure of success that would make many of her peers jealous. Having recently completed a one-year run with the hit musical Hairspray in Helsinki, for which she gave up her final school exam, she is now in New York to give her career an international dimension. The concept of moving is not new to this diplomatic, social Libra. Having grown up in New York, this bubbly singer with a French father and Finnish mother, came to Finland at the age of 15, where she is already an instantly recognizable celebrity working with producer DJ Mobster. Having relocated to New York in September, she is now ready to give her career its final push. Alexandra has been on the go since her move to Finland. This determined singer with a voice that belies her age, has never been afraid of success or the steps necessary to get there. ‘If you tell me to be somewhere, I’ll be there,’ she says explaining how already at the age of 15 she procured a fake ID to be able to do gigs in Helsinki in order to put herself out there and meet the right people. Not content to sit there and rest on her laurels she was soon jetting off to gigs around Asia often at the drop of a hat, ultimately landing the coveted role in Hairspray, even becoming appearing on Finnish and American Idol respectively.
