Artist
Alexandr Filippov is one of the most talented acoustic guitarists I have heard for a long time. Originating from Kazakhstan, his style is however reminiscent of early Lee Ritenour, with overtones of John McLaughlin's abstract jazz style, but without his icy chill. There is a great variety of moods in his msuic as witnessed on "For You", from the moody "désintéressé" Brazilian opening, the tight rhythms and perfect timing of Istambul, the pathos of Never, and the beauty of the two Epizody, and more.
