Alex de Grassi (* 13.02.1952, Yokosuka, Japan) is an extremely influential fingerstyle steel string acoustic guitar player from the United States. A Grammy finalist, de Grassi is renowned for his innovative techniques and compelling, orchestrated compositions using counter melodies and cross-rhythms. De Grassi plays a mixture of original material and US folk, holding a pivotal role in kick-starting New Age Steel-String Acoustic music. The techniques he pioneered are now commonplace in what is considered contemporary playing.
