New York City born and raised, Alex York grew up to the classic tunes of music legends David Bowie, Queen, The Beatles, and Blondie-all the while soaking up the fresh stylings of his own generation's pacesetters. Most recently, Alex performed at The Bamboozle Festival 2011, one of America's premiere music events. Music writer Tris McCall for The Star-Ledger, New Jersey's largest newspaper, singled out Alex among over a hundred talented acts and lauded, "Alex York of Manhattan is one of those young unknowns on the rise." Time Out New York called Alex a "rock star in the making" on its official Facebook page, and Alex has been featured on DJ Rossstar's Punk Rock Show and Fearless Radio, among others. As for Alex's music: It's hard-hitting pop, all bolstered by electrifying dance beats and raw vocal performance. And, with a dusting of glam and a touch of hip-hop swagger, he's bringing back the essence of the true rock performer: infectious songs, authentic musicianship, and a visceral theatricality. An important part of Alex's journey as a songwriter came when he lived abroad in Japan, where he became fluent in the language and absorbed Japanese music and culture―in particular the technique of combining diverse cultural elements into a unique collage. 20% of Alex's merchandise profits is donated to Japan disaster relief.
