Aleksander Dębicz is a versatile pianist and improviser, playing freely in a variety of musical styles. He is a laureate of numerous Polish and international competitions and a winner of the international competition of composition and improvisation, the Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest 2013. In 2014 he signed an exclusive contract with Warner Music Poland. His debut album for Warner Classics, Cinematic Piano explores his deep love for film music and improvisation, as well as showcasing his skills as a composer. Born in Wrocław, Aleksander Dębicz is a graduate of the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw in the class of prof. Elżbieta Tarnawska. Among the many national and international awards bestowed on him are First Place and Special Prize of the City of Frankfurt (Oder) for the best performance of works by J.S. Bach at the 15th International Piano Competition of Johann Sebastian Bach in Gorzów/Frankfurt (Oder) in 2000, the Special Prize for the best performance of Haydn’s sonata on the 10th International Piano Competition in Bremen (Germany) in 2005, and the Special Prize at the International Music Competition in Bucharest in 2006. He has developed his skills at international master classes under the direction of world-renowned pianists and pedagogues such as Robert Levin, András Schiff, Andrea Bonatta, Alexander Bragiński, Jan Jiracek von Arnim, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, Andrzej Jasiński, Alexei Orłowiecki and others.
