Andy Ashton - Guitar, Keyboard Paul Coleman - Guitar, Banjo, Drums, Keyboard Mark Ramirez - Drums, Guitar Greg Greene - Bass Albumen is a four piece band hailing from the Capitol Region of New York State. Formed on April 1, 2005 by Andrew Ashton and Paul Coleman, the initial intent of the band was to play droney-acoustic rock songs. That intent quickly fell apart when electric instruments and noisy drum loops were added. Their first show took place in June 2005. Both members consider that show an exercise in barely organized chaos. By August 2005, they started recording on their first record, Lake Desolation. It became clear very quickly that the record needed live drums for a number of the songs, as the canned beats didn't quite cut it (for all songs) on record. They recruited Andrew Churchman from Pants Yell! to play drums on 4 songs from the record. The record was completed and mixed and out by Jan 2006. In the Spring of 2006 Mark Ramirez was recruited to join the band. In addition to shouldering much of the drumming, Mark also brought in songs on which Paul plays drums.
