Artist
Alan Sparhawk, founding member of the band Low, released a collaborative studio album titled With Trampled by Turtles on May 30, 2025. The project was recorded via Sub Pop Records and represents a shift toward "big-sky, northern plains Americana" compared to Sparhawk's previous experimental solo work. The album is Sparhawk’s second major release following the 2022 death of his wife and Low bandmate, Mimi Parker. While his 2024 solo debut, White Roses, My God, utilized electronic and distorted vocals, this collaboration features raw, acoustic performances supported by fellow Duluth, Minnesota musicians. Trampled by Turtles and Sparhawk share a 20-year history; Sparhawk previously produced their 2014 album, Wild Animals. The record is deeply communal, featuring Sparhawk and Parker's daughter, Hollis Sparhawk, who duets with her father on the track "Not Broken". Three songs on the album—"Too High," "Princess Road Surgery," and "Not Broken"—were pieces Sparhawk and Parker had conceptualized together before her passing. Following the release, the ensemble performed together, including a notable residency at The Fitzgerald Theater in late 2025. Trampled by Turtles remains active on the road through 2026.
