George Alan Sparhawk (born 1969 in Seattle, WA, United States) is an American songwriter, guitarist and singer, best known as a founding member of Duluth, MN, slowcore pioneers, Low (1993-2022). Sparhawk was married to fellow bandmember Mimi Parker until her passing on 5 November 2022. Throughout his career Sparhawk has worked on many side and solo projects, such as the blues/roots band The Black-Eyed Snakes and the Retribution Gospel Choir. He also released a track on a various artists compilation, 'Songs for the End of the World', under the name Hollis M. Sparhawk & Her Father. Sparhawk's solo début album, entitled Solo Guitar, was released in August 2006. As of 2010 he worked on several experiments under the moniker The Murder of Crows with fellow Duluthian resident Gaelynn Lea (violin, vocals, song-writing). The songs are experimental and ethereal in nature. July 2024 saw the release of the single 'Can U Hear', Sparhawk's first musical output since Mimi Parker's passing and also the first solo music under his own name since 2006. A full-length solo album entitled, White Roses, My God, came out in September 2024 on Seattle's Sub Pop Records.
