Alain Morier is an Ottawa based musician that has been part of the Canadian music scene for over 15 years. He has several recording credits to his name and is a versatile and eclectic performer. A student of the guitar since childhood, and a graduate of the Classical Guitar Performance Program at the University of Ottawa, Alain Morier has had the opportunity to perform in masterclass for several great guitarists, notably Manuel Barrueco, David Russell, Alice Artzt and Stepan Rak. He also studied privately with Canadian classical guitarist Norbert Kraft. He independantly released the CD "Ensemble" in ’99 – a collection of 13 original finger style compositions that combine the styles and techniques of both the classical and acoustic guitars. The follow-up CD "Distance" featuring a similar style using electric guitars in addition to the acoustic and classical guitar was released in 2002. He is also a member of Canadian rock group "The Barstool Prophets". The band has toured in Canada and the U.S., and has recorded three CDs: one independent release and two with Mercury/Polygram. The "Prophets" are currently preparing a new CD to be released later in 2005. Alain Morier’s music has also been used in video and film production and is in rotation on pay audio services such as CBC’s Galaxie.
