Artist
Al Berkowitz (born c. 1949) is an american modern blues/psychedelic rock cult musician and occasional writer. Born in Temple, TX and raised by a single mother, he developed a unique slide guitar skill by playing either John Fahey and Charlie Patton. He tasted minor local succes in the late seventies with a bunch of low-key rarely obscure folk songs, namely «Naughty shabby Pontiac», «‘Round my milestone» and «Bye, bye, you my real me!». He left a few recordings from those days. Deep into poverty and struggling with a heavy drug addiction he relocated in England and then wandered all across Europe. He was reported dead by the new century, but reappeared surprisingly with a poetry book «Our palace in Ergosphere» in 2002. Currently, he’s settled down in a little town near Roses (Spain), where he has set up a refreshment stall with his Spanish wife. As of 2010, the Al Berkowitz Band has released three albums: - Man in the air (2006) - Temple Records - Barely nice (2009) LP - Temple Records (recorded in 2007), remastered by Bob Katz in 2009 - Apprenticeship and attitude (2009) LP - Producciones Psicotrónicas (recorded live in Madrid 30-07-2009) Al Berkowitz Band are: - Ignacio Simón (Madrid, 1982): Vocals, guitars, keyboards, soundscapes, percussion and cornete. - Lorenzo Palomares (Madrid, 1983): Drums and percussion. - Santiago Estrada (Madrid, 1982): Bass guitar and background vocals User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional te
