Aida Cuevas (born in Mexico City, Mexico on 24 September 1963) is a Mexican singer and actress also known as "The Queen of Ranchera". She has released 27 albums and has won numerous awards including a Grammy Award. Her unique voice and style have allowed her to cultivate a successful and long lasting career, leaving a remarkable imprint in the history of Latin Music. Her signature song is "El Pastor." She is the sister of Carlos Cuevas, another well-known ranchera(o) singer in Mexico. She has been nominated for three Latin Grammy awards for "Enhorabuena" released in 2002; produced by Bebu Silvetti. Lately she's been nominated once more for best Tango album, on the 11th Latin Grammy Awards. She was discovered when just a teen (1975) on a Mexico City radio talent show. She is commercially successful in the US and in Mexico. She often performs in front of a mariachi, and has been a model and mentor to contemporary female mariachi musicians.
