Artist
Ahmed Nazmi Started off as a piano player at the age of 6, then learning the lute and guitar as he grew up, Nazmi took a turn at the age of 15, when he decided to pursue his new passion of bass playing. As he continues to develop his own signature, he has been revisiting his heritage with a new perspective, where he has developed an original approach of playing the bass where he delicately blends the tradition of playing jazz, the music of Africa with his Egyptian musical heritage into his playing and distinctive style. Nazmi has recorded his first Bass solo album “ETHBAT HALA” in July 2012 as the first solo album for a Bass player in Egypt and featuring some of the finest musicians in Egypt and some great international musicians such as the Syrian saxophone player Basel Rajoub, and the Dutch/Iranian percussionist Babak Madda. Nazmi has toured internationally with his band The Hot Potato Project, and with Yehya Khalil. More recently, he has toured throughout Europe with A Fula’s Call, Marc Bischoff, Omar Ka, 6 Spoons, 1 Kitchen Group (Netherlands based Artists) and Egyptian Grammy Award winning Fathy Salama and the most appreciated singer in Egypt Mohamed Mounir.
