The band was founded by guitarist Henri Sipilä and drummer Kristian Ahlfors in 2008. Bassist Patrik Salmi soon joined in, and the band's sound began to form. In 2009 Marc Taylor joined as a vocalist and a second guitarist. With this lineup they released Enlightenment Is Serious Business EP. In early 2011 the band parted ways with Marc. In June 2011 Steve Baker became the new singer, after which the band released a two song This Is Not A Drill in July 2011. In December 2012 their debut full length album bearing the name Prodigal Sun was released. In February 2013 Patrik announced that he could no longer continue with the band, since he was moving back to his birth town. Soon afterwards Henri Markus took upon himself the duties of a bassist. y February 2014 it had come apparent that the creative energies did not flow the way it was hoped with the current line-up. Due to this the band parted ways with Henri Markus. Patrik stepped in to help with gig duties and the band found itself revitalized and set out to work on some new material. Aeon Antenna's music contains influences from various directions, including progressive rock, grunge, metal, and is spiced with various other genres (like an occasional stab of humppa or a well dosed portion of reggae). Lyrical themes range from philosophical psychology to playful dream-like stories and personal issues.
