Aeldfire is a Finnish folk music duo originating from Pirkkala, Finland, comprising vocalist Salla Rimmi and multi-instrumentalist Niilo Sirola. The duo was established following the hiatus of the Celtic folk rock group Greenrose Faire, in which both musicians had performed and written material for over a decade. Aeldfire’s musical style integrates Nordic and Celtic folk traditions, characterized by acoustic instrumentation, modal melodies, and narrative lyricism. Their repertoire combines elements of traditional Irish and Finnish folk with the melodic sensibility of contemporary pop and rhythmic influences from bluegrass. Rimmi’s vocal delivery, known for its clarity, warmth, and expressive phrasing, forms the centerpiece of the ensemble’s sound, while Sirola contributes a wide range of acoustic timbres through the use of stringed instruments. The duo frequently collaborates with guest musicians on accordion, violin, tin whistle, and double bass, enhancing the harmonic and textural scope of their arrangements. Their lyrical content draws on themes of nature, love, and human emotion, often framed through folklore and mythological imagery. The group’s debut EP is scheduled for release in December 2025 through OOB Records for physical and digital distribution, with a full-length studio album planned for 2026.
