Artist
Best remembered for a single called "My Little Surfin' Woody" b/w "My Little Beach Bunny," which was released on Challenge Records in the midst of the surf music boom, the Sunsets were actually a studio concoction of writer and producer Gary Usher, who sings the lead on both songs. One album, Surfing With the Sunsets, released in 1963, is attributed to the band, and while it definitely is of its era, the record shows a strong R&B tinge, with wailing saxophone lines (most likely played by Steve Douglas) that lift it up a bit from the standard reverb-drenched surf fare of the day. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide The band's leader/drummer, Adrian Lloyd was a member of the Rumblers, who scored the Top 100 hit "Boss", before quitting that group and joining the Sunsets.
