Abigail Politely Decided’s musical shoebox contains virtual tape loops of Hammond improvisations by London-based performance artist, photographer and digital producer, Grooveolux. Characteristically, an Abigail piece is built on the foundations of live looping of Hammond organ tones providing a shifting rhythmic feuilleton overlayed with Western harmonic improvisation in a single key. But Abigail’s small canon also includes some early analogue tape-based pieces inspired by audio tape’s creative potential to manipulate recorded time. This interest ultimately led to a career in the 80s as a studio sound engineer in TV - including working on the team dubbing several series of the cult TV show ‘Dr Who’. Grooveolux is associated with London-based performance art group The Five Andrews which he co-founded in 1990 and for whom he has produced a number of soundtracks eg ‘Birdie’, and texts. With his music Grooveolux aims to provide listeners with “at least 15% of the Recommended Daily Allowance of the interlubidinous syncopacification needs of an adult”. As a teenager Grooveolux played in high school group Entropy. In his 20s he played with the London experimental and sometimes quite rocky outfit Owellso that looked to This Heat as setting the standard for experimental musical thrills, and guested 2 or 3 times with The Event Group but missed out on their tv appearance for 80s cult music tv show The Tube. Grooveolux's Digital Delay Line only works upside-down. User-contributed
