Alt-pop singer Akine was previously known as Nicole, which was based on her real name of Nicole Kozina. The name “Akine” is taken from Japanese 旭 (aki) – meaning “rising sun” – combined with 音 (ne) – meaning “sound.” Akine’s debut song, “Pray for the Prey,” was released in 2018 when she was 17 years old. Her debut EP, “Don’t Foster Fear,” is planned for a 2018 release under Best Laid Plans Records.
