Amanda Joy Michalka (born April 10, 1991), often credited as AJ, is an American actress, singer-songwriter, and instrumentalist. She used to be a model prior to becoming an actress, and is best known as one-half of the duo Aly & AJ (briefly known as 78violet) with her sister, Alyson Michalka. Michalka lived and grew up in Seattle, Washington and Southern California with her sister Alyson Michalka. Her mother, Carrie, is a musician and performed with JC Band. Michalka has been playing the piano since she was four and started playing the guitar in her early teens. She started acting when she was seven years old, mostly in church play productions. Michalka was in a number of musical productions at her school in Milwaukee as a young adult. She made her Disney TV debut in the 2006 film 'Cow Belles' with her sister Aly. The pair also co-starred in 'Super Sweet 16: The Movie' for MTV in 2007 and independent comedy-drama film 'Weepah Way For Now in 2015. Michalka has acted in a number of television shows such as 'Six Feet Under', 'The Guardian', 'Oliver Beene', 'Hell Cats' and 'Silicon Valley'. She has starred in TV films such as 'Salem Falls' and 'Expecting Amish', the 2013 Christian-drama film 'Grace Unplugged', and was featured in the Academy Award nominated film 'The Lovely Bones' in 2007. She also provides voice-over work in 'Steven Universe' and 'She-Ra and the Princesses of Power'. She is currently a recurring cast member in period sitcom 'The Goldbergs', starring in her
