The band was founded in 2012 by Rachel Whibley-Rose (Speight) and Gordon Young out of a mutual desire to do something musically, and aesthetically, different from what surrounded them. Both have had lengthy careers writing & recording, appearing on numerous releases, performing across the UK and Europe with a diverse range of acts in the alternative scene. After nearly coming to blows over minutiae, they decided that it was a perfect time to work together on a larger project to see what else might occur. The complete band line up was announced in December 2013 with Bob Malkowski on drums, and Karl North on bass. ARoT are currently recording their first EP which is scheduled for release later in 2013.
