A Common Misconception, an experimental rock outfit from Cornwall, Ontario, formed in 2006 when singer Jean-Marc Guindon and guitarist Braunson Lalonde decided to form a band. The two put posters up in Ottawa, but eventually settled with high school friend Alex Morin as a second guitarist and Shaun Harvey on drums on a reccomendation from Morin. The lineup was completed during the Spring of 2007 when Matt Levesque, who they also knew from high school, adopted the bass as his instrument of choice. After early difficulties finding time to practice (two of the members were attending university in a different city), the band spent the summer writing and recording what would eventually become their first full-length, The Human Carnival, which the band released independantly.
