A Closing Skyline began in Matthews, NC in early 2002. The band quickly began playing live and recorded a 5 song demo. After a couple hundred handmade demos sold and just around 15 shows under their belt the band entered Catalyst Recording studio in Charlotte, NC with producer Rob Tavaglione to work on their debut full length. From this the band emerged with, "The Close Day of Promise". The band independently released the album in 2003 and set out on several small tours in support of the record. This was quite a feat for a bunch of 11th grade high schoolers. Entering 2004, a more mature A Closing Skyline entered The Basement studio in Rural Hall, NC with producer Jamie King (Beloved, Between the Buried and Me). The band emerged with their follow up EP, "An Autograph of Our Own Extinction". Released in December 2004 on Divisional Media Recordings, the band hit the road doing numerous east coast tours and dozens of regional shows sharing the stage with bands such as Norma Jean, Throwdown, The Chariot, Life In Your Way, Across Five Aprils and Seventh Star. Ironically enough, the release of "An Autograph of Our Extinction" really was an autograph of the band's extinction. After touring extensively throughout the Spring and Summer of 2005 and inking a deal with Redemptive Records, the band decided to call it quits. A Closing Skyline played their last show on September 2nd, 2005 at Tremont Music Hall in their hometown of Charlotte, NC. User-contributed text is available under th
